ATV Rental in Playa del Carmen: FAQ
ATVs are a great fit for travelers with a driver’s license who want a bit more power, comfort, and fun while exploring. They’re perfect for cruising to cenotes, beach clubs, or remote spots that are harder to reach by bike. Ideal for adventurous couples or friends who prefer stability and off-road capability over pedaling.
🪖 Helmet Required, Always. No ride starts without a helmet — it’s non-negotiable. Whether you’re driving or tagging along as a passenger, helmets are mandatory and provided free of charge. Buckle up for safety.
🪪 Carry Your License and Papers. You’ll need your original driver’s license with you while riding, plus the ATV’s registration papers that we’ll provide at drop-off. If police stop you, both are required.
🚫 Absolutely No Riding Under the Influence. Drugs or alcohol and ATVs don’t mix — not now, not ever. Riding impaired is illegal and puts you and others at serious risk.
🛣️ Respect Local Traffic Laws. Stick to the speed limits and avoid off-limits areas, especially if you’re not familiar with the roads around Playa del Carmen. Any fines you get while riding are your responsibility.
⚠️ Report Mechanical Issues Right Away. If something feels off — brakes, throttle, engine noise — let us know ASAP. We’ll jump into action to fix it or replace the vehicle if needed.
⛽ Full Tank Policy. Every ATV is delivered to you fully fueled. We expect it returned the same way — simple, fair, and easy to remember.
🔄 Return It Like You Got It. The ATV and all gear (helmet, keys, registration docs) must come back in the same condition as when you received them. Treat it right, and everyone stays happy.
🔞 What is the minimum age to rent an ATV or quad? You must be at least 18 years old to rent or operate any of our ATVs or quads. This policy is non-negotiable and applies to all drivers.
📄 What documents do I need to provide? We only ask for a valid driver’s license from your country of residence. Just send us a photo or scan via WhatsApp or email — no need to show the original. Both car and motorcycle licenses are accepted.
We accept a variety of payment methods. You can pay with:
- cash in Mexican pesos
- MXN wire transfer (commission-free if you have a MXN bank account)
- debit/credit card (+5% processing fee)
- Paypal (+8% processing fee)
- MXN wire transfer (commission-free if you have a MXN bank account)
- Revolut app (commission-free)
When it comes to security deposits, we highly recommend paying in cash to have it back immediately and avoid any delays in refunds handled by our payment processor Mercado Pago.
🛡️ Is any insurance included with the rental? Yes — all ATV and quad rentals include basic coverage at no extra charge. If you want more protection, you can choose from optional upgrades for a small additional cost.
📋 What does the insurance actually cover? That depends on the insurance level you pick. Basic insurance covers minimal third-party damage, while upgraded plans may include theft and vehicle damage protection.
💬 Can I add insurance after booking? Yes — but only before your rental begins. Once the ATV or quad is in your hands, we can’t upgrade or change the insurance anymore.
📱 Will I receive a document confirming the insurance? No paperwork needed — your selected insurance will be clearly confirmed via WhatsApp or email for your peace of mind.
📊 How much is the deposit for an ATV or quad? It depends on the model you rent, but generally the deposit ranges from 4000 to 6000 MXN.
🔐 Why is a deposit required? The deposit helps cover things like rule violations, late returns, lost accessories, or unauthorized extensions. It’s also our way of ensuring the vehicle comes back in the same condition as it was delivered.
⚠️ When could my deposit be partially or fully withheld? Your deposit may be deducted or kept if the quad is returned damaged or missing items, or if it’s stolen without proper insurance coverage. Other situations include returning it late or without a full tank, depending on the agreed terms.
📝 Will I be informed if any deductions are made? Absolutely — we’ll always explain why, share photos or proof if needed, and provide a full breakdown of any costs. Our goal is to be clear, honest, and fair.
🚿 Will the ATV be clean when delivered Yes — every ATV is fully washed and checked before and after each rental. You’ll get it fresh, clean, and ready to ride.
⛽ Will the quad arrive with a full tank of gas? Absolutely. We always deliver our quads with a full tank, and we kindly ask you to return it the same way when your rental ends.
🚚 Is delivery and pick-up included in the price? Yes — both delivery and pick-up are 100% free anywhere in Playa del Carmen. No extra fees, no tricks.
📦 How does ATV delivery and pick-up work? Once your rental is confirmed, just drop us your location pin on WhatsApp. We’ll bring the ATV straight to you — hotel, Airbnb, restaurant, wherever. At the end of your rental, we’ll pick it up from the same spot unless we agree otherwise.
🤔 Why don’t you charge for delivery? Because we think that’s how it should be. We’re a local team, and our mission is to make your quad rental simple and hassle-free — without the need to visit an office or stand in line.
📍 Can I return the quad somewhere else? Sure — as long as it’s still within Playa del Carmen. Just give us a heads-up in advance so we can plan the pickup smoothly. We’re flexible, but we do need notice.
⏳ Can I extend my quad rental? Definitely — as long as your quad isn’t already reserved for someone else. Just let us know at least 12 hours before your rental ends (between 8AM–8PM), and we’ll do our best to extend it. If your current vehicle isn’t available, we’ll offer you a similar ATV instead.
💸 Can I return the ATV early and get a refund? Yes — we’re happy to refund any unused rental days. Just give us at least 72 hours’ notice so we have a fair chance to rebook the ATV for someone else.
❌ Can I cancel my quad booking for free?Of course. Cancellations are free of charge — we just ask that you let us know at least 3 hours before the scheduled delivery to avoid wasted time and fuel.
🦺 Is riding a quad safe? Yes — as long as you follow local traffic rules, wear your helmet, and drive responsibly. Playa del Carmen is quad-friendly, and plenty of people use them daily without trouble. The risk of accidents is low within town, so stay alert but relaxed, and enjoy the ride.
🧑🏫 Can I drive an ATV if I don’t have much experience? Absolutely. ATVs are beginner-friendly, but if you’re new, we recommend starting slow and avoiding busy areas. Practice on quieter streets first.
🪖 Do I need to wear a helmet while riding?Yes — helmets are mandatory for both driver and passenger. It’s the law in Mexico and also just common sense. Every rental includes helmets free of charge, so please wear them at all times while riding.
💥 What should I do if I get a flat tire? Stop riding immediately and contact us. Driving with a flat is dangerous and can cause more damage to the ATV. Continuing to ride could result in extra repair charges taken from your deposit.
👮 What if I get stopped by the police? It’s rare, but if it happens — stay calm, show your ID and driver’s license, and let them know it’s a rental. If you’re fined for something, you may need to pay it on the spot. If anything seems off, contact us — we’re here to assist.
🛣️ Can I drive the ATV on the highway between Playa, Tulum, and Cancún? You can, but it’s not ideal. Quads are slower than cars and less visible, especially at night. Stick to the far-right lane, avoid overtaking, and always keep your lights on. If possible, stick to scenic roads or quieter routes.
📍 How far can I travel on a quad? You’re free to explore as far as you want, but quads are best suited for local and mid-range trips. Long highway stretches aren’t ideal for comfort or safety.
🚫 Are there areas I shouldn’t ride in? Yes — avoid dark, unlit streets, remote neighborhoods, and non-tourist zones after sunset. Stick to central roads and well-traveled routes for a safer experience.
🌙 Is riding at night a good idea? We don’t recommend it. ATVs are harder to see at night, and visibility drops significantly. If you must ride after dark, stay in well-lit areas and ride defensively.
🌧️ Can I ride in the rain? If it’s just a drizzle, yes — but go slower and give yourself more room to brake. For heavy rain, it’s safer to wait it out somewhere dry. Wet roads can get slick fast.
🏖️ What are the best places to visit by ATV around Playa del Carmen? ATVs are awesome for discovering spots beyond the usual tourist trail — beach clubs, cenotes, jungle roads, or local hangouts. Some favorites include Xpu-Ha, Punta Venado, Puerto Aventuras, and Cenote Azul. These places are easy to reach without hitting the main highway too much.
🕒 When’s the best time to explore by quad? Try going out early in the morning or before sunset. It’s cooler, traffic is lighter, and the views are way better for photos. Midday can be too hot, and we definitely don’t recommend riding after dark — visibility drops and roads get riskier.
🛑 Can I stop often while riding? Definitely. That’s the beauty of quads — you can pull over pretty much anywhere that’s safe. Want to snap photos, grab snacks, or dip into a cenote? No problem. Just lock it up properly and don’t leave your helmet behind.
⛽ How far can I go on a full tank? Most quads can handle 60–80 km on a full tank. That’s more than enough for round trips to Puerto Morelos, Akumal, or the hidden beaches down south. Always keep an eye on your fuel gauge though — better safe than stranded.
🛠️ What if the ATV breaks down while I’m riding? If something feels off — brakes, throttle, lights, or anything else — contact us right away. We’ll either guide you through a quick fix, send a mechanic, or bring you a replacement quad if needed. We’ll never leave you stuck.
🔑 What happens if I lose the helmet or keys? If any rental gear goes missing — like the helmet, keys, or the provided lock — we’ll deduct the replacement cost from your deposit. Be sure to double-check your things before leaving any café, beach, or cenote stop.
💥 What if the quad gets damaged or stolen? The basic insurance included with your rental doesn’t cover damage from accidents or theft. If you’d like full protection, you can upgrade your plan before the ride. Without it, you’ll be responsible for repairs or replacement. Costs depend on the damage and the ATV model.
📸 How do you know if damage occurred during my rental? We take clear photos and videos of each quad before it leaves our hands. You’re welcome to take your own too. If there’s damage upon return that wasn’t there at delivery, it’ll be considered your responsibility.
🚨 What happens if I don’t return the ATV? Not returning the vehicle is treated as theft. We’ll file a police report and submit your personal information to the authorities and insurance provider. Your ID and booking details are already on file.
📍 Where can I park the ATV or quad?Parking is simple. You can leave it at your hotel, outside restaurants, or anywhere you see other ATVs or scooters parked. Just make sure it’s secured to something sturdy — like a post, metal rack, or anchored structure.
⚙️ How do I operate the quad? No worries if it’s your first time — our team will walk you through all the basics during delivery: how to start it, use the throttle, brakes, and turn it off safely. Quads are beginner-friendly, but we recommend starting slow until you get the feel.
⛽ What kind of fuel should I use? Always fill up with Premium gasoline. It offers the smoothest ride and helps avoid issues with the engine. The cost difference is minimal, and it keeps the quad running reliably — especially for longer outings.
📷 Can I leave the quad unattended during stops? Yes, for short and medium breaks. Just use the provided lock and always secure it to a fixed object. For longer visits like cenotes or beach clubs, choose supervised or paid parking when available and don’t leave it out of sight for too long.
